On September 23, 2025, Ukrinform news agency hosted a round table "Ukraine's Foreign Policy: Specifics, Challenges, Priorities". The event was organized by the Public Council under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and Razumkov Centre with support from Hanns Seidel Foundation. Representatives of government bodies, public organizations, scholars and experts on foreign policy issues were invited to partake in the discussion.
In his opening remarks, Razumkov Centre President Yu. Yakymenko outlined the results of expert research under the auspices of the Public Council and noted the importance of coordinating the efforts of public institutions and state bodies, safeguarding and promoting national interests on the world stage.
The participants of the event were addressed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Yevhen Perebyinis. He focused on the key lines and priorities of Ukraine's foreign policy, described the specifics and features of Ukraine's wartime diplomacy and noted the importance of firm security guarantees for Ukraine.
During the round table, an expert report prepared by the Public Council members M. Pashkov (Razumkov Centre), I. Zhdanov (Open Policy Foundation), S. Dzherdzh (Ukraine-NATO League) was presented. The authors of the report noted some trends and priorities of Ukraine's European integration, features of the Ukraine-USA partnership, the state and prospects of Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic integration.
During the subsequent discussion, the participants discussed such subjects as features and priorities of the Ukrainian diplomacy in wartime; the European vector of Ukraine's foreign policy; the state and specifics of the partnership between Kyiv and Washington; challenges and prospects of Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic integration.
Speaking at the round table, O. Karakuts (NISS) focused on internal processes and problems of the EU, that also affect the relations between Kyiv and Brussels and Ukraine's integration in the European community. L. Shevchenko (NGO "Territory of Women") dwelt upon gender issues, including the status and prospects of Ukrainian refugees abroad. H. Cheburovska (Zhytomyr City Volunteer Headquarters) noted the importance of joint coordinated actions of Ukrainian organizations abroad, promoting Ukrainian interests on foreign platforms. The speech by S. Kasyanchuk (World Congress of Ukrainians) was devoted to the problems of confronting hybrid Russian aggression, in particular, the influence of Russian media narratives, preservation and protection of the national identity.
- Holovko (NAS of Ukraine), speaking at the round table, touched upon geopolitical trends that influence Ukraine's external situation and its standing on the world stage. He noted the specifics and influence of the Chinese factor on global processes and described the features of Beijing's foreign policy, in particular, with regard to the countries of the Global South.
This expert discussion is the next stage of the project implemented by the Public Council under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and Razumkov Centre with support from Hanns Seidel Foundation.
