The Director of Energy and Infrastructure Programs of Razumkov Centre V. Omelchenko made a presentation at the Round Table. He, in particular, mentioned the loss of a significant part of Ukraine's energy infrastructure due to Russian aggression and the distorted current model of the electricity market as the main reasons for the price rise in the commercial segment.
To correct the situation, V. Omelchenko suggests market coupling with the EU electricity market, in particular, through the repayment of debts on the balancing market as a result of a radical reduction in the list of enterprises that cannot be cut from electricity supply, application of price caps in accordance with the EU Regulation 2015/1222, and implementation of REMIT.
The Round Table was attended by CEOs of the leading Ukrainian industrial enterprises and the mining and metals sector, people's deputies, representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and energy/metallurgy experts, in total – over 70 participants.
The Round Table was organized by the GMK Center.
