On February 16, 2023, Razumkov Centre’s energy and infrastructure programmes director V. Omelchenko took part in the expert discussion "Integrity and Transparency of Wholesale Energy Market" that was organized by the leading discussion platform of Ukraine in the energy sector, Energy Club.
Up to 200 participants took part in the event. They included representatives of the energy community, ACER, NERC, Ukraine’s Antimonopoly Committee, electricity traders and producers.
The Ukrainian Parliament is to adopt a landmark bill implementing the provisions of the EU Regulation on the Wholesale Energy Market Integrity and Transparency (REMIT) into the national legislation.
The Regulation requires from Ukraine the establishment of requirements and rules that will ensure transparency in the electricity and natural gas markets and promote open and fair competition in the wholesale energy markets, taking into account the interests of consumers.
The forum discussed practical aspects of the introduction and implementation of REMIT.
