Meeting with representatives of International Charitable Organization "Environment-People-Law"

On May 31, 2024, a meeting with representatives of the International Charitable Organization "Environment-People-Law" (EPL) was held at Razumkov Centre. Its participants included the former EPL Director Olena Kravchenko, senior environmental analyst of the EPL Kateryna Polyanska, international partner of the EPL Dr. Barbara J. Heinzen (USA), Razumkov Centre President Yuriy Yakymenko, Razumkov Centre Sociological Service Director Andriy Bychenko and Razumkov Centre research fellow on legal issues Petro Stetsiuk.

Razumkov Centre President Yu. Yakymenko told the guests about the Centre’s activities, peculiarities of its organization and research in the conditions of the martial law, and highly appreciated the rich legal and environmental activities of the International Charitable Organization "Environment-People-Law". In particular, he noted that the motto/mission of the EPL “The rule of law for the protection of the environment” was highly relevant and clear to the personnel of the Ukrainian Centre for Economic and Political Studies named after O. Razumkov, since all of them share the values ​​of democracy and the rule of law, protection of human rights and freedoms, accountability of the state to society, active participation of citizens in formulation of the key principles and priorities of the state policy.

In her turn, the new EPL Director Olena Kravchenko spoke about the current activities of the International Charitable Organization "Environment-People-Law" and the plans of the EPL participation in the post-war rehabilitation of the environment, maintenance of environmental balance in Ukraine, elimination of the aftermaths of Russian aggression, including in the area of ​​the Kakhovka reservoir. This issue was also addressed by the EPL International Partner Dr. Barbara J. Heinzen, a renowned specialist in the development and implementation of scenarios for recovery from various crises (including environmental). She shared the experience of such work in African, Asian, Central European and Latin American countries.

Finally, Razumkov Centre President Yu. Yakymenko on behalf of the team of the Ukrainian Centre for Economic and Political Studies named after O. Razumkov wished the representatives and partners of the International Charitable Organization "Environment-People-Law" every success in their activities and expressed hope for fruitful cooperation between Razumkov Centre and the EPL in the future.
