On February 25, 2025, the Co-Director of Foreign Policy and International Security Programmes at Razumkov Centre M. Pashkov took part in the round table "Ukraine 2025: Peace through Strength, or Capitulation through Weakness". The discussion focused on the priorities of Ukraine's foreign policy, modern geopolitical trends and processes, ways and means of ending the war in Ukraine and establishing a lasting and just peace. The participants of the event paid special attention to the prospects of a peaceful settlement.
The round table was attended by Hryhoriy Perepelytsia (Director of the Institute for Foreign Policy Studies), Volodymyr Ohryzko (Head of the Centre for Russian Studies, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in 2007-2009), Oleksandr Musiienko (Head of the Сenter for Military Law Research), Pavlo Lakiychuk (Head of the Security Programs of Centre for Global Studies “Strategy XXI”), Alexander Khara (Executive Director of the Centre for Defence Strategies).
In his presentation at the round table M. Pashkov noted that the Russian-US negotiations on the war in Ukraine bear threats and challenges for both Kyiv and the collective West. The prospects of these negotiations are uncertain and dangerous, given the ultimatum demands of the aggressor country and Moscow’s reluctance to cease hostilities. The speaker noted that in the current situation, the process of integration in the EU is gaining special importance and weight for Ukraine. In particular, Kyiv should push for the beginning of all negotiation clusters in 2025, acceleration of accession talks, and at the same time, encourage active cooperation of the Ukrainian defence industry with the European partners and other allied states.
