On June 16, 2023, the international scientific-practical conference "Legal and Organizational Aspects of International Cooperation of Local Self-Government Bodies" organized by the University of Łomża together with the National Institute of Local Self-Government took place in the Polish city of Łomża (Podlasie) in a mixed mode. Scholars from Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Slovakia, Ukraine and Czechia, as well as practitioners of local self-government bodies from various Polish cities and voivodships took part in the conference.
Speaking at the conference on-line with a report "International cooperation of local governments as an element of ensuring the irreversibility of the European and Euro-Atlantic course of Ukraine", Razumkov Centre Research Fellow on Legal Issues Petro Stetsiuk, in particular, drew attention to the need for systematic improvement of the Ukrainian legislation on international cooperation of local self-government bodies. According to the expert, cooperation of Ukrainian local councils with their Central European counterparts in the conditions of ongoing Russian aggression is not only evidence to political support but also a vivid confirmation of the European identity of the Ukrainian people.
