28 June 2022, Petro Stetsiuk, Research Fellow on Legal Issues of the Razumkov Center and retired judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, took part in the International conference "The role of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine in the Implementation of the state's strategic course to acquiring full membership in the European Union”, organised by the Constitutional Court of Ukraine (CCU) together with by the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine with the support of the OSCE Project Coordinator in Ukraine.
The conference was attended by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk, thePresident of the Venice Commission Claire Bazy Malaurie, acting and retired judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, well-known domestic and foreign constitutional scholars.
Speaking at the conference, Mr Stetsyuk has noted that in implementing the strategic course of the state towardsfull membership of Ukraine in the European Union in the current conditions (taking into account the factor of the war waged against Ukraine by Russian Federation) it is extremely important for the Constitutional Court of Ukraine to ensure maximum continuity of its activity, to increase its effectiveness and ensure uninterrupted support of the Ukrainian state in fulfilling its main constitutional duty — ensuring human rights and freedoms (Part 2, Article 3 of the Constitution of Ukraine).
