On 15 December 2017 Razumkov Centre hosted an expert meeting, at which Korea National Diplomatic Academy Professor Mr. Ko Je Nam presented his report "Security Situation on the Korean Peninsula and in the Northeast Asia".
The meeting was organised by the Razumkov Centre and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Ukraine.
Participants discussed the evolution of the security situation on the Korean peninsula in connection with rapid development of North Korea's nuclear programme in the past year and its influence on regional and global security system. Positions and interests of the key actors (USA, Russia, China, Japan, South Korea, North Korea) were discussed, as well as prospects for conflict resolution. Presentation statements on the denuclearisation of Korean peninsula in exchange for economic preferences for North Korea caused lively debates among expert meeting participants.
The discussion was attended by representatives of Ukraine's government structures, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Ukraine, experts of non-government think tanks, scientists, international experts.
