Today, thermal generation is actually provided by a private generating company, the Razumkov Centre representative says.
Private TPPs carry the greatest balancing load in the Ukrainian energy system and exceed the Ukrenergo plan, which allows state-owned plants to perform planned repairs, Maksym Bielawski, a leading expert of energy programmes at Razumkov Center, said on the air of Hromadske Radio.
"We should realise that TPPs currently bear the largest load. The base load is provided by nuclear power plants, and frequency regulation is performed thanks to HPPs, PSPPs, TPPs and CHPPs. Today, thermal generation is actually provided by a private generating company. As far as I know, they are exceeding their plan, approved by the Ukrenergo dispatcher. Thanks to private generation, the state-owned company now has a possibility to carry out planned repairs," the expert said.
Commenting on preparations for the heating season in Ukraine and how Ukrainians should get ready for the winter, he emphasised that the energy sector workers are no less dedicated than Ukrainian defenders.
"Our industry and its people are fantastic. They are the heroes of the energy front. They did and are doing everything for the heating season to be successful, despite all the unprecedented situations and challenges. Therefore, I am not so pessimistic as some of my colleagues. And I urge the Ukrainians to trust energy companies in the same way as we trust the Armed Forces," Bielawski said.
