Russian gas deliveries to the EU have fallen record low since 1975. This affects Gazprom’s profit, because Europe was the most profitable market for it, the director of energy programmes of Razumkov Center Volodymyr Omelchenko said today, July 10, on the air of the FREEDOM TV channel.
"Such low deliveries have not been observed for almost 50 years. Of course, this affects Gazprom's profits, because for Gazprom, the main and most profitable market is that of the European Union. As a result, the Russian budget lost approximately 1.1 trillion roubles only in the first half of 2023," the expert said.
According to him, Gazprom is a tool of the Kremlin. The speaker is convinced that the company will not be able to replace the European market and that its prospects are generally bleak, while the main fear that Europe will freeze without Russian gas, the expert emphasized, has evaporated. Moscow has lost this tool of blackmail.
"Now Russia has no tools to blackmail the European Union. After this winter, when they in the EU managed to diversify their supplies and passed the winter normally — many consumers of the European Union breathed a sigh of relief and realized that there is life even without Gazprom. This is a great conclusion, isn't it? Not only for consumers of the European Union but also for Ukraine," Omelchenko summed up.
