Big victory or not just yet? What awaits Ukraine?

June 22, 2022

Recently, there has been increasing consensus between Ukraine and the West regarding an alternative vision of the process of defeating Russia

What would be Ukraine's big-time victory in the war against Russia? The answer is the de-occupation of the territories and the restoration of the territorial integrity of Ukraine. That is, restoring the borders as of 21 April 2010, for example. Crimea is ours and no Russian Black Sea Fleet there. Reparations paid by Russia for all the damage done. Russia deprived of any opportunity to resume aggression against its neighbours anytime in the future.

This includes the continuation of the sanctions regime, the controlled withdrawal of offensive weapons beyond the Urals, the control of military activities throughout the territory of Russia, and the continued process of controlled limitation of strategic nuclear weapons. All these things, rather than promises of help from Western countries after the start of aggression, are key guarantees of Ukraines future security. Just like Ukraine's accession to NATO.
