On November 22, 2023, Razumkov Centre will hold a discussion on the topic "What's wrong with the competitive selection of candidates for the position of judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine?"
The discussion will start at 12.00, and will feature the following persons:
Volodymyr Venger, Dean of the Faculty of Legal Sciences of the National University "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy";
Ihor Koliushko, Chairman of the Board of the Centre of Policy and Legal Reforms, People's Deputy of Ukraine of the 2nd and 3rd convocations;
Henadiy Ryzhkov, Legal Adviser of the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation (IRZ);
Viktor Shyshkin, Retired Judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, People's Deputy of Ukraine of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd convocations, the first Prosecutor General of Ukraine;
Petro Stetsiuk, Retired Judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, research fellow on legal issues at Razumkov Centre (moderator).
It is planned to discuss the content and practice of implementation of the constitutional provision on the selection of candidates for the position of judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine on a competitive basis, its impact on the development of the constitutional judiciary in Ukraine, as well as the place and role of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine in supporting the state's strategic course towards full membership of Ukraine in the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
