Hungarian Authorities Block EU Oil Embargo: No Free Russian Discounts

For many years, Hungary has deliberately ignored the opportunities to diversify its oil supplies. The country receives 60% of its oil from Russia, even though the EU demands no more than 30% per source.

Volodymyr Omelchenko, the Director of the Razumkov Centre’s Energy Programmes, reminded that Ukraine had repeatedly offered to use the Odesa-Brody oil pipeline. In addition, there are opportunities for supplies through the construction of interconnectors, as this will allow receiving oil from other European maritime terminals, such as the Adriatic.
