Annual Report 2016

FOREWORD

2016 was an exceptionally active year for the Razumkov Centre in its more than 20-year history. Studies on the most urgent issues related to the economy, energy, foreign and internal policy, security, law and social matters were conducted within the framework of 21 projects, and the Razumkov Centre was the first in Ukraine to study the impact of climate change on the processes of economic development. The Centre’s experts will participate in the development of the New Energy Strategy of Ukraine until 2035.

The 2016 Global Go To Think Tank Index Report, annually developed by the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program (TTCSP) at the Lauder Institute of the University of Pennsylvania (USA), placed the Razumkov Centre in the Top Five think tanks of

Central and Eastern Europe (it was also ranked 55 among the world’s top 175 think tanks). This rating is the highest in Ukraine.

A significant number of the proposals and recommendations submitted to the authorities based on the results of the projects were taken into consideration in the draft laws, presidential decrees and government resolutions. The Centre’s experts actively provided advice to the Government and individual ministries, committees of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, departments of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine, and the NSDC secretariat and participated as members of public advisory bodies.

The Razumkov Centre frequently hosted ambassadors of foreign states (in particular, Korea, Austria, Sweden, Great Britain, Norway, Germany), representatives of foreign organisations, think tanks and leading international media.

The procedure was initiated for the Razumkov Centre to become a full member of the Trans European Political Studies Association (TEPSA), the transeuropean research network, and we hope to complete this procedure in the near future.

The Razumkov Centre will continue on its path toward strengthening civil society, further inculcating democratic values and turning Ukraine into a modern European law-governed state.

Anatoliy Rachok,
Director General of Razumkov Centre
