Participation in a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on Energy and Utilities "Second year of the ban on exports of natural gas from Ukraine: consequences and prospects"

March 18, 2024

The director of energy and infrastructure programmes of Razumkov Centre Volodymyr Omelchenko in his report at the Committee meeting noted that lifting the ban on gas exports would contribute to investments in gas production, integration with ENTSO-G, and enhance Ukraine's energy security.

The main conditions for the export potential development include reliance on the GTS operator for technical integration with ENTSO-G and control over stable supply to the market, coupling with the EU gas market, availability of the minimum necessary reserves in the underground gas storages and resources for performance of PSO functions.

People's deputies of Ukraine — members of the Committee, officials from the President's Office, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, Energy Customs of the State Customs Service, the Association of Gas Producers of Ukraine, Ukrtransgaz, the Ukrainian Energy Exchange, and representatives of the Energy Community Secretariat, embassies of Great Britain and the USA took part in the meeting.
