Ukrainian Interest. Tillerson's Statement

Recently, the USA called Russia's invasion in Donbas "unacceptable". Of course, it is nice to hear that the US Administration is giving a realistic assessment of today's situation. However, we need to realise that Rex Tillerson's words should not be taken as a statement in defence of Ukraine, even if it is so. Because, to our greatest regret, Ukraine finds itself in the middle of the global competition between Russia and the West. And the goal of certain harsh actions undertaken by the United States is to harm the Russian Federation.

So far, this falls in line with Ukrainian interests. But, I repeat, we should not be charmed by this, as protection of Ukraine's national interests is not the focus here. Right now, we are receiving ad hoc bonuses from this confrontation. Yes, the current situation is in favour of Ukraine, but no one can guarantee that it will not change in half a year or a year. We need to clearly understand that nobody will do our work for us.

It is premature to draw the conclusion from Tillerson's statement that the US is ready to officially recognise Russia as the aggressor. Although Kremlin is already being told this in the face.
